The art liquoristica is an ancient tradition in Altomonte and it is tied with my triptyque obtained from the plants of our woods.
The “Piacere di Venere” (Venus’ Pleasure) is a liquor that comes from myrtle berries, a plant that is sacred to this goddess, symbol of love and amorous poetry, which was used in popular medicine as a balsamic, antiseptic and sedative.
The “Trionfo dell’Imperatore” (Emperor’s Triumph) comes from laurel, a plant sacred to Apollo, symbol of glory and knowledge, which is a good antiseptic and digestive.
The “Passioni dei Cavalieri” (Knights’ passions), my flagship, is the walnuts liquor (nocino) that our farmers distilled from walnuts and offered to the knight Templars when they hunted in Altomonte’s area.
